Stafford Classic Bike Show 2008

Once again the Stafford Show was a big success for the Gold Star Owners Club. This year the Rocket Gold Star was the featured bike and there were loads of appreciative comments from the massive crowd over the two days.

The other change this year was the display of photo banners that have recently been put together to demonstrate what the Club is all about. One advertises the Club, two banners show general Club events, one shows a montage of Club Members and the final one shows photos of Past Masters riding Goldies.

The Past Masters banner was brought right up to date by the appearance of three Honorary Members on the stand - Bernard Codd, Ewen Haldane & Jimmy Drysdale (see photo) - all three spent time signing copies of the History of the Clubman's TT races book and took time to answer questions from the public. They all signed their photos on the Banner and we would like to thank them very much for all their time and effort - much appreciated.

The Club Members photo montage was scrutinised by all and sundry, especially the "Tatooed Lady" - nuff said.

The regalia sales were considerably up on last year - a lot to do with the persuasive selling techniques of the ladies on the stand!!!

Awards are all part of the Show and this year the GSOC again featured in the line-up. The Club Stand won the prize for 3rd Best Club Stand in Show and Dave Webber's Bike won the award for the "Best Ex TT Bike" in Show, a very fancy Cup and award (see photo). The bike is the one that Ewen Haldane rode, so plenty of photos were taken of him "getting down to it".

But, the Stand and the Show would be nothing if it wasn't for willing Club members - bringing their bikes for show, manning the stand, talking to members of the public and generally promoting the Club - so a big thank you to you all.
